Sylvia Villagrán: Women have more business opportunities than before

Sylvia Villagrán, Voice Over Professional shared with PRODU her experience in the 2016 Democratic National Convention, where she served as live announcer. “It was a super nice experience. Is being part of history. Latino have a very strong part in the U.S. presidential election, of how people see us, and now we have voting power, is very important to participate. Of being able to elect, be counted and have that strength.” Regarding gender equity in the advertising industry, she said that there are still many spaces to fill, like working in promos and trailers. “We’ve many opportunities. Today’s women can work in different aspects of the business and with different brands.” The fact of being bilingual has allow us to work currently in different areas. Before this kind of opportunities were unavailable to us, she said. “Now there is more work in English and Spanish, and many opportunities of working with great clients.” Sylvia has been the voice for different brands, like Safeway supermarkets, Toys R Us and Disneyland.
