Spotify gives Starbucks a musical touch

19 de mayo de 2015

Starbucks does not quit in offering music to its clients thanks to the new agreement reached with Spotify. Now the two companies will work together to provide Starbucks employees with free subscriptions of Spotify´s Premium service. The subscriptions will boost music in the store. The 10 million faithful members of the Starbucks chain will be compensated and will be able to transmit reproduction lists and vote for the type of music they would like to listen to, wherever they are. Also, reproductions and votes can be made trough Spotify or the Starbucks application, too.It is the first time Starbucks extends its loyalty program to reward its members for doing something more than buying coffee, and it is also the last step in the construction of applications of the chain in the go-to-app for other brands. Since last year, rumor has it that Starbucks is building a mobile platform that it will sell to brands who seek to enter mobile payments. In September, the brand signed a deal with Uber that includes a button in its application which allows users to make travel reservations. Meanwhile, advertising in Starbucks shops and in their mobile platform can boost Spotify´s subscription business. The streaming music service has 60 million users, but only 15 million pay for the music.
