Sorrell: En los niveles intermedios hemos alcanzado un 50/50 de oportunidades para ambos géneros
Sir Martin Sorrell, CEO at WPP, talked in an interview about the low probability of his successor being a woman and the diversity program developed by his company. “Our program is not well-developed enough. I mean its a diversity program but it hasnt achieved the metrics that wed like to achieve” he said. “At lower and middle levels we hold that 50/50 ratio of equal opportunities for both genders, but we havent achieved this at all levels. I think women are not necessarily better everywhere in our industry. Theyre better at organizing their time. Emotionally, they are also better and male clients probably respect them more. Terrible thing to say, but I said it” Sorrell pointed out. For Sorrell having gender equality in the industrys agenda is positive for diversity in general. “The idea of the government introducing quotas for womens positions isnt for me the way of achieving it. It should be achieved by us implementing it, setting targets and agreeing where weve got to get to and meeting those targets.” He said that “despite there are women running businesses in the industry, like Tamara Ingram, our Chief Client Officer, or Donna Imperato, CEO at Cohn & Wolfe; the odds of my successor being a woman are less than 50%. Probably when we achieve equality levels in all the organization, these odds will increase.”
