The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) revealed the winners of the International 2016 IAB MIXX Awards during the annual dinner of the conference. The big winner was REI & Venables Bell & Partners. This agency won the Best-in-Show for the campaign #OptOutside, that went viral in social media, inspiring consumers to practice outdoor activities instead of shopping on Black Friday. “The IAB MIXX Awards showcases the power of digital and its ability to transform advertising into a deftly rich and unifying storytelling experience” said Randall Rothenberg, President and CEO at IAB. “We look forward to seeing how this year’s elite work will inspire tomorrow’s interactive marketing campaigns.” Lockheed Martin, McCann, UM New York, Weber Shandwick, Momentum Worldwide, and Framestore VR Studio won the Special Mention for Technology…Re-Imagined award for the campaign The Field Trip to Mars. The award was specifically created this year to honor this campaign, that was recognized for being a pioneer in innovative execution that transforms a school bus into an immersive virtual reality experience and adds a dimension of making this technology social, something the jury believes is fundamental to the future of digital marketing. The jury was comprised by 33 industry leaders, who represented important advertisers, agencies and publishers, and was led by Matt Murphy, Partner and Creative Director of 72andSunny. “Campaigns which received top honors elevated their message with never-before-used tactics, prompting their audience to interact in tangible and meaningful ways” said Murphy.
