Paula Ambrogi, COO and Co-Founder of Retargetly, spoke with PRODU about Mockingbird, a free, open source plugin that allows detecting adblockers and at the same time understand which ads readers prefer.”Together with DMP (data management platform), publishers can have access to audience metrics like the number of adblocker users, measure the amount of lost impressions due to the use of adblockers, and even show personalized messages to specific users.”Ambrogi explained that Mockingbird was a development they made to sit on the publisher´s side, understanding his needs. “We don´t charge a thing for that and since it is open source, we don´t control who uses it. We want to help publishers, wherever they are. The code is universal and the message is customized by the publisher. It was mainly a gift to the community” she said. The user took the necessary measures because there was an excess, assured Ambrogi, he was saturated and it was the media´s fault. “They finally realized that users have the power and they influence on how to treat them. The learning is to try and make contents that have value and at the same time not saturate them with advertisements, to offer them a more pleasant experience and for users to receive ads that are relevant for him.”Mockingbird is compatible with the most popular browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari and even Internet Explorer (8+).
