New Generation Latino siempre optimista
New Generation Latinos (NGL) are between 14 and 30 years old and were born in the United States, or have been in the country for at least 15 years, and represent almost three out of every four Hispanics in that age group. In 2012 the NGL was closely studied for the Maximo Report, a unique study co-sponsored by Tr3s, and conducted by Motivo Insights, LLC and the New Generation Latino Consortium (NGLC) which focused mainly on the study of characteristics that distinguish this rapidly growing demographic. The recent study showed certain data identifying exactly who make up the New Generation Latinos and how they are doing in times of recession. The conclusion was that this group is very comfortable about living in a bicultural world, whose identities can be complex. Nonetheless, they are happy to be both Latinos and Americans. At least seven out of every 10 feel completely accepted by non-Latino Americans. At the same time, their parents play an important role in their personal priorities and long-term goals. The majority feel capable of caring for their families in the future theyre an optimistic group who consider they have all that it takes to keep going and survive difficult economic times. After the NGLs upbringing, education is the second most important area. Researchers agree that Latinos have made progress, and will continue to make progress over the next decade. What is indispensable is to find a job and have a successful career.
