KPMG has named Nestle as one of the best companies in the world for Corporate Social Responsibility.KPMG is a leading audit, tax and advisory firm, while Corporate Social Responsibility, or CSR, as defined by the European Commission, refers to companies taking responsibility for their impact on society.Nestle is the only food and beverage company to rank among the top 10 firms listed in the KPMG study of Corporative Social Responsibility.The eighth edition of the study evaluates 4,000 companies in 41 countries across 15 sectors of industry. KPMG evaluated the quality of their reporting on such key criteria as the companies evaluation of risks and their response to such risks, and on issues and areas where the action they have taken has made the biggest difference. It also evaluated how companies reported on their suppliers and the degree of transparency and balance in their reporting.These are the top 10 companies ranked in the KPMG study of Corporate Global Responsibility: A.P. Møller Mærsk, BMW, Cisco Systems, Ford Motor Company, Hewlett-Packard, ING Finance, Nestle, Repsol, Siemens and Total.
