Ford celebra su quinta década fuera del planeta tierra
Michael Sego, Fords Sales Manager in San Francisco, and Steve Kubitz, Fords Big Valley partner director in Stockton, California; were the first in documenting a Mustang into outer space. Both were inspired by year 1961, when Ford Mustang started, almost at the same time that astronauts were giving the first tentative steps into space, which later took them to the moon. Since then, Mustang has inspired many drivers to broaden the limits of their own experiences.”We wanted to celebrate Mustangs 50th anniversary and the imminent arrival of the brand new Mustang 2015 making something really special,” Sego said. “Mustang has always been behind the wheel and on the road, but we decided to take it to open space,” he added. The idea of launching a Mustang on a rocket to the space was not a practical thing, that is why they took the idea from parachutist Felix Baumgartner. They bought a weather balloon and added a bar to the lateral instrumentation box. They put one of the Revell Mustang models kilts and a pair of action cameras to record the event.During its descending, the only Mustang in outer space went through a series of uncontrolled twists similar to those Baumgartner experienced.”We are glad to be able to take our favorite car to new boundaries with its launch into space,” Sego ended.
