In the USA, about 171 million people own a smart device, which have become a basic element of their daily lives. The portable device is also the choice for consumers looking to catch up with emails, social networks, or even tweets about a sports game going on at the time.Millennials are one of the largest segments of the USA population, approximately 77 million, on par with the Baby Boomers. These young consumers are the largest segment of smartphone owners. In the second quarter of 2014, 85% of millennials aged 18-24 had these devices; and 86% of adults aged 25-34, increased by 77% and 80%, respectively, compared to the second quarter of 2013.While age plays an important role in the ownership of smartphones, this technology does not have a gender gap. In the second quarter of this year, Android was, once again, the first operating system, with more than half of smartphones in the USA, 52%. Apple, meanwhile, continued to be the leading manufacturer of smartphones, 43% of Americans own an iPhone.
