Cordero: La matemática es esencial en cualquier carrera que contribuye al desarrollo de compañías como Ford
Minerva Cordero is a Professor of Mathematics and science Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of the Texas University at Arlington, and a distinguished researcher, whose work has been supported by the National Science Foundation and the National Security Agency. “Being part of this list of awardees is a great distinction, I feel very grateful to Ford company for acknowledging my efforts” she said to PRODU. Cordero is involved with activities aiming to increase the number of students belonging to ethnic minorities that are underrepresented in fields of mathematics and science. “Mathematics is crucial in any degree that includes science, technology and engineering, those that contribute to the development of companies like Ford.” She considers that of the four Fords cores the one that characterizes her more is smart. “Which has guided me through the years and to recognize what is truly important in life: helping other human beings that like me didnt have a life filled with luxuries and privileges, but by acknowledging the great value of education, have been able to progress.” She suggested Ford to develop a center for mathematic advance in school, its main goal should be offer tutorial for students after school and also providing them with a space to work and complete their academic tasks, particularly those regarding mathematic and sciences.
