ALMA’s SVP of Operations, Michelle Headley highlighted the importance of diversity, not only on-screen, but also behind the camera, during The Diversity Discussion Conference held on Monday 5th in New York City. On a panel Depicting Diversity, she explained that diversity should be a priority within an agency. “As Producers, we have the opportunity – almost a responsibility – to promote diversity within our projects by working with Directors, Editors, and crew from diverse backgrounds” she said. Headley noted that part of the creative force behind successful campaigns for clients is fueled by a team that represents 28 different nationalities. “Today, more than ever, we need to authentically represent culturally diverse voices, and that goes beyond the on-camera talent.” The speakers of this panel included: Juanjo Duran, Head of NA Multicultural Content, YouTube; Terence Gray, Founder and Executive Director, New York Television Festival; Tom Mohler, CEO at Olympusat Holdings; Dodai Stewart Editor in Chief at Fusion, and Joe Min, Group Account Director, interTrend Communications.
