Matías Canelson, editor sénior de Right Cut Media Miami
Matías Canelson, Senior Editor at Right Cut Media Miami, has 15 years of experience in the industry and feels that “Hispanic creatives better understand new generations in the U.S. since most of them are more global, they have life experiences they bring along from their Latino roots that help the U.S. Hispanic market create campaigns with more human insights that are a feature of Hispanics and differentiate us. This results in the generation of ideas that win awards in festivals worldwide, because they reach a different place.”Canelson will be juror at the 2016 Miami Short Film Festival, where more than 100 participants were chosen to show their films. “I know there are very good short films from all over the world” he said. “For me, the story is first, before everything else. A good script can help other technical aspects not so well achieved to go unnoticed when a short film is being judged.”The editor feels that in 2017 the trend will be an acceleration of everything that has been going on in recent years regarding technology. “After 15 years editing content for TV, I have to think differently, if content is going to be online. The amount of metadata a video can have is truly amazing” he explained. “Dead times disappear, interaction with viewers is greater, but content quality must continue to be the priority.”He previously worked at CuatroCabezas, Endemol, WANCAMP and Cinecolor Digital, where he edited pieces that won numerous awards. In 2015 he edited the documentary, República del Color, projected by UNESCO.
