Mary Pimienta of BaseCamp Entertainment turns TV production services unit into a booming business

Since just over a year ago, Mary “Pepper” Pimienta, executive producer and CEO of BaseCamp Entertainment, has been successfully developing her television production services division. BaseCamp itself, based in New York, has been in business now for three years.Pimienta, previously known for providing exclusive, and very successful, representation for directors of commercials in the U.S. Hispanic market, has moved onwards and upwards in television production and now has several projects going including telenovelas, reality shows and episodes for TV series.“These services are a division of BaseCamp, which has grown considerably, much to my surprise. We have plenty of production experience and can offer competitive prices because we have all the services lined up. From the moment we receive the script we organize everything – locations, casting, equipment, crew, hotels…” Pimienta told PRODU.BaseCamp Entertainment has collaborated with RCN on the telenovela Alla Te Espero, on season 3 of FOXTelecolombia’s El Capo, with FOX International Channels/Buenos Aires on FOX Life’s reality show Novia a los 40, and more.Besides BaseCamp she is developing two other projects – a documentary and a talk show. About the latter she says, “We’re currently developing the concept with the star of the show to present the idea to the networks. It’s a weekly talk show in Spanish about self-help and romance, with a demographic of men and women between 25 and 45 years old”. The documentary, directed by Pimienta herself, explores aging and the contrast between the values of Latino and U.S. cultures.
