Nike signed a contract with the NBA for eight years as exclusive provider of apparel for the teams on the field and all the garments that the entity commercializes.”The association with Nike represents a new paradigm in the structure of our global merchandising business”, said Adam Silver, NBA Commissioner through a statement.Nike will also be the first in the history of the US League whose logo will appear on the game uniforms of the teams and not only on the ones sold to the public. It will also provide the outfits for the female basket teams. However, the brand is not a rookie in the NBA. It is even one of its global partners since 1992 and revived the outfit industry for this sport decades ago with its line inspired in its greatest star, Michael Jordan. “With Nike, Jordan and Converse we have three of the most connected brands in the world and are anxious to turn the global growth of this game into a successful strategy both for Nike as well as for the NBA”, President and CEO of the firm pointed out in a statement.
