Luis Miguel Messianu, President and CCO of ALMA, was honored by the Adcolor Awards in the category Legend, for being a pioneer in the advertising industry in the US Hispanic market. The executive, who has had a 33-year career, spoke to PRODU about the acknowledgement that he is sharing with all those who work and have worked with him in the agency. “Without that team, I am nobody, least of all a legend” he says. Messianu was awarded the Legend honor together with Pam El, Marketing Directora of the NBA, for supporting and boosting others in the industry. “I was responsible for universalizing the US Hispanic market. I have always been committed to education, for me it is a great responsibility to pay back to the community and the industry”. For one of the most influential creatives in the US Hispanic market, it was a stroke of luck to be in the right moments as an architect of the second generation of Hispanic agencies. He explained that he feels great respect for pioneers, who opened the path to sell the market opportunity. “I was part of a generation that had already come a long way and what we were responsible for was to open our eyes even more to the opportunity to make relevant things. The US Hispanic market went from translation to the language –in that process, stereotypes were developed- and then we had to talk about culture and creativity. And today, we are in the business of ideas, influencing mainstream, like the movies have, entertainment, etc.”
