Luciana Cani is the new Executive Creative Director of Saatchi & Saatchi Tokyo. She said that curiosity has been the engine driving her to work in diverse markets – Europe, the U.S. and now Asia. “This is my first experience in Asia. My role is very similar to my previous one. But I know that each time I move to a different country, I have to study the local culture and learn how to engage with consumers in different markets,” the executive said. Saatchi & Saatchi Tokyo is a hub for many brands. “We work more globally here,” Cani said. “Most of our clients are not completely centered on the Japanese market. For instance, Lexus International and Shu Uemura distribute their products in many markets. Expedia is another client that doesn´t focus only on Japan, among others.” She said that one of her big advantages as a creative is the frequent chance she gets to experience something new: “When we move to a different culture, we see things differently, our senses awaken and we learn a great deal. I always dreamed of getting to know the world through my work. It’s happening!” Cani was senior VP and executive creative director of the multicultural agency LAPIZ. The projects that were her responsibility included the successful campaign Tequila Cloud for the Mexico Tourism Board.
