The multicultural agency, Lopez Negrete Communications, made an infograph to share and explain this typical Latin American tradition that commemorates Three Kings’ Day, to North Americans. Through colorful drawings it explains, first of all, the story of this tradition. “Three Kings’ Day is celebrated on January 6th and represents the biblical adoration of Baby Jesus by the Three Kings, who came bearing gifts” says the agency. “They were assumed to be astronomers. Their names and identities were never revealed in scripture. Their gifts for Baby Jesus were: gold, signifying royalty; frankincense, demonstrating the divine nature of the baby’s existence; and myrrh representing Jesus’ mortality.”The creative team from Lopez Negrete also illustrated the celebration. “In the modern era, Día de los Reyes is celebrated across Latin America. Festivities include big parades and family gatherings” they explain, as well as the typical Rosca de Reyes “a large oval-shaped cake filled with dried fruit and a small figurine Baby Jesus hidden inside. The person who gets the figurine in a slice of cake must then host a party on Día de la Candelaria or Day of the Candles.”
