Lions Festivals names Jose Papa Managing Director

Jose Papa, actualmente el CEO de WGSN, el servicio de noticias de moda global de Ascential

Jose Papa, the Brazilian executive, was designated as new Managing Director of Lions Festival. The organization made the announcement on August 1st. He will be in charge of the festival which includes Cannes Lions, Lions Health, Lions Innovation, Lions Entertainment, as well as the regional events: Eurobest, Dubai Lynx, Spikes Asia and the Tangrams.Papa is currently CEO of WGSN, Ascential’s global fashion trend forecasting service. He was previously Regional Director of Ascential for Latin America and before that, he ran corporate strategy with Cannes Lions’ Official Representative in Brazil, Estadão. “Clearly this role attracted a lot of interest, and I am delighted that Jose has agreed to join Lions Festivals. He has led WGSN to unprecedented success, and with a deep understanding of our brand and huge international experience, he was the outstanding candidate for the role” stated Philip Thomas, CEO of Ascential Events. “Lions Festivals is the definitive global destination for creativity and inspiration. A legacy built by bringing together the world’s brightest minds and awarding the most innovative work. It is a privilege to carry on the heritage and further lead an exciting new phase of continued success” said Papa. At the start of 2016, Philip Thomas, former CEO of Lions Festival, was designated CEO of Ascential Events, to manage the Exhibitions & Festivals businesses. Jose will begin as Managing Director on September 1st, and will therefore relocate from Ascential’s offices in New York to the offices in London.
