Mónica Marulanda, directora creativa sénior de ALMA
For ALMA’s Senior Creative Director, Monica Marulanda perseverance has been the key to reach the position she has in the industry. “Hard work since day One. I Have been fortunate enough to have people that believed in me -bosses, duplas and of course clients- But the most important thing, has been the love I have for what I do, who I do it for, and the people I get to do it with.” Marulanda said she has been inspired by every single female that has won a Lion since 1954. She looks forward of seeing more women winning at the festival. “We do a lot of the work. We are out there, we create, we produce, we present, we make people feel. So, why wouldn’t we be winning for doing that, just like anyone else?” she said. She considers that there have been many important changes within the industry that have helped gender equality; for example, female jurors at Cannes Lions Festival. “This definitely needs to continue, not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because giving women their rightful, equal place, is not only good for our industry, but for the world in general.” Marulanda recommends to the Hispanic market to keep on growing, maturing, demanding and evolving. “It’s been so amazing to be part of this ride.! If there ever comes a time when I no longer hear: “What’s Hispanic about?” I’ll jump for joy!”
