Verizon Wireless announced its sponsorship of the Hispanic Leadership Program at Rice University, to be held July 30-31. With this project the telecom seeks to set an example of supporting the progress and future success of Hispanic professionals, in association with the Center for Hispanic Leadership (CHL).At Verizon Wireless we embrace diversity in our future business leaders as solid business practice and are proud of supporting the work of the CHL in Houston, said Krista Bourne, president of Verizons Houston region. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Hispanics in 2018 made up 18 percent of the nations workforce. With such rapid growth, universities and companies must do a better job of providing Hispanics with culturally relevant education and training in order to increase the amount of talent available among Hispanic employees.CHL President Glenn Llopis said Verizon is glad to be leading by example to support the development and advancement of Hispanic professionals. Llopis added that Verizon leadership is of vital importance at a time when companies are welcoming cross-culturalization in the workplace as a result of the rapid demographic changes in the United States. In the CHL, she said, we believe culturally relevant training is essential for Hispanic professionals to improve their performance and the global influence of their careers.
