The United States is set to expand access to medical benefits via the new Affordable Care Act (ACA), so Univision, WellPoint and HolaDoctor are spreading the word across multiple media to Hispanics who are eligible for coverage under this new health insurance plan.California, Colorado, Georgia and New York will be the exclusive health insurance sponsors of Univision’s initiative Salud Es Vida (Health is Life). On radio, television, weekly online bulletins, community assemblies and more, consumers in each and every market will be given access to the information they need.Keith Turner, president of advertising sales and marketing at Univision Communications Inc., says “we are looking forward to working with WellPoint’s plans and HolaDoctor to empower Hispanics with culturally relevant information on the ACA and information on the importance of health insurance the Affordable Care Act will provide access to care for millions of previously uninsured, including a large number of U.S. Hispanics.” The news about ACA will include information about when its different measures will go into effect, how to choose a health insurance plan and information about benefits. The study shows that 52 percent of Hispanics have little knowledge of ACA, and 89 percent want to know more about the new law.As Ken Goulet, president of WellPoint’s commercial and specialty business division, puts it: “We know that Univision has been a trusted source of information for generations of Hispanic families and we’re excited to team with an organization that shares our vision to ensure Hispanic consumers have a place to access accurate information about the Affordable Care Act.
