Juan Carlos Varela of La Pirada: Consolidating our position in the Hispanic market is a challenge we’re ready to tackle

Juan Carlos Varela, director of the Argentine full service music and sound design production company La Pirada LatAm, spoke with PRODU about the upcoming projects that La Pirada USA has in the United States.“We’ve been working in the advertising field here for several years. Now we’re out to solidify our position by having a physical presence in Miami with our own studio and local talent. And in the television market, the response has been very good” Varela said.With regard to what Pirada USA’s incursion into the Latino market has meant for the company, Varela said: “The experience has been and continues to be very rewarding. The difference here is the target. The Hispanic market covers an interesting cultural diversity. In any case, we know these cultures from our work in various LatAm countries. Here we see them all mixed together, and we know how to satisfy a mixed market.”La Pirada recently delivered two projects for Y&R Brands, and also finalized an institutional campaign for the Cerebro Y&R agency. Now it is working on original music for projects at P4 Ogilvy, Publicis Fergo and the VFX production company. Varela noted that 2012 was a year of solid growth, new projects and the possibility of the company’s continued expansion throughout LatAm. “Consolidating our position in the Hispanic market is a challenge we’ve been putting off and that finally in 2013 we’re ready to tackle,” he said.
