The social network Instagram recently introduced an option called shoppable grams, with buttons for purchases. This innovative tool is expected to increase times five the company´s income for advertisement in the next two years. This year´s sales will reach $595 million, a figure that will rocket to US$2.81 billion at the end of 2017. This number represents 10% of global ad sales for Facebook in 2017, but it represents 14% of its mobile income. In the US, Instagram produced 28% of the total of mobile on the social network. 92% of Instagram´s income for next year will come from North America, while in 2017, it will drop to 85%, when international activity increases. Currently, Instagram offers no products for advertisement from computers, which is why all these figures correspond to the mobile world. Now that Instagram is opening up, it will face a repressed demand. Advertisers on Instagram will be able to use all the Facebook tools to reach their target, including the popular platform Custom Audiences”, commented Debra Aho Williamson, eMarketer´s Main Analyst. Instagram´s growth in the US will also serve as a catalyst in this process. The number of users is expected to increase 60% this year, until it reaches 64 million people. eMarketer estimates that at the end of this decade, Instagram will have more than 110 million users.
