Heineken and Publicis New York collaborate in the recovery of the Miami Marine Stadium

Bird: Este proyecto honra una pieza icónica de la historia de Miami

The National Trust for Historic Preservation launched a campaign on Indiegogo to restore the Historic Miami Marine Stadium, that was abandoned more than two decades after Hurricane Andrew. As years have passed, the abandoned building has become a canvas for urban artists. The campaign seeks to recover the space by celebrating the art that has been painted inside the stadium. Heineken and its agency, Publicis New York, joined the cause and developed a video explaining the project, with a system to collaborate on the Heineken website. The ad was filmed in a five-day period and shows in stop motion animation, the stadium’s unique lights and heritage, including the musical concerts and boat races that took place there. They shot with five simultaneous cameras, while 10 urban artists from Miami hand painted, frame by frame, the sequence that would later be animated. Publicis mentioned that it took them three days to shoot some scenes that just last a few seconds.This project honors an iconic piece of Miami´s history, said Andy Bird, CCO at Publicis New York. “This piece is a tribute to the vibrancy of the stadium’s back story, a stadium which has been a mecca to the very same local graffiti artists who came back to celebrate it.”The campaign reached its US$100 thousand goal, but organizers are seeking additional funds until September 19th.
