Google developed Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), a collaborative platform for publishers in mobile devices. The initiative is the result of the launching of similar efforts by Facebook and Apple. In October, Google rolled out a beta version of the product and has already signed agreements with news chains such as The New York Times, Washington Post and BBC.According to Google, nearly 1.600 newspapers and TV stations have already expressed their support. The company also announced that they have signed agreements with analytics and advertising providers for the project. AMP is an open source initiative, since it has collaborators such as Outbrain, AOL, OpenX, DoubleClick and AdSense to improve the advertising experience of users, publishers and advertisers on the mobile web.David Besbris, Google’s Engineering VP, is one of the authors and engineering leaders behind the project. More details on the official launching of AMP will soon be revealed.
