Gonzalo Alonso, gerente General de SmartyContent para las Américas
Gonzalo Alonso, Managing Director at SmartyContent for the Americas said during Miami SIP Connect 2017 that the audiovisual digital industry has many dependencies. “The main one has to do with YouTube monopoly that allows them to distribute content, generate audiences outside their properties, both in web and mobile, and that dependency is what we’re trying to pinpoint as an opportunity” he said. SmartyContent was born on December 2016 and has a disruptive business model. The firm does not charge for any license’s costs, nor for CDN to distribute videos. They use a win-win 100% scheme, and its approach is to become partners of communication media, not technology providers. “We have a team of great professionals with wide experience in the digital industry, devoted professionals that work close to publishers. We approached more than 300 publishers regionally and more than 90% have the problem we mentioned before, so we are offering them a technological solution which is not a simple integration, but training. This enables them to increase their views and video inventory. We’ve had a great return from many publishers” Alonso said. Nicaragua’s press is one of their main success cases, because they went from 50,000 monthly videos views to 750,000 in a year.
