With its campaign Got Milk? and Toma Leche, the California Milk Processor Board (CMPB) will celebrate the first anniversary of the El Chavo del Ocho day, in alliance with Chespirito, September 8th in Los Angeles, California. The event includes the popular Latin American tradition of “La Merienda” (snack and milk pairings) across the whole state, where they will offer combinations of snacks and milk. This initiative was developed by Gallegos United.”The endearing values that El Chavo embodies of love, celebration and relationships are good reminders of the daily connections that connect us to our culture and sustain our lives. There’s no better time to reconnect with those that matter than with a snack and glass of milk in the afternoon” said Steve James, Executive Director at CMPB.The celebration activities of this first anniversary include: a US$6,000 donation to the Boys and Girls Club in Fresno and Sacramento –cities that will declare August 31st and September 5th respectively as El Chavo del Ocho days-; online games in Tu Inner Chavo for fans of the program to be able to interact with the characters; and the creation of El Chavo sculpture, commissioned to Raúl Baltazar from the Otis College of Art and Design and recipient of the California Community Foundation Fellowship for Visual Arts – that will be exhibited at the East Los Angeles Mexican Independence Day Parade and Festival, September 10th.
