Ford World News: Joedis Avila says Ford Fund has a long-standing commitment to support and spotlight Latino achievements nationwide

The Kansas City Council has issued a proclamation giving special recognition to the American Jazz Museum, the Ford Motor Company Fund and the Smithsonian Institution for supporting programs of cultural enrichment.The American Sabor exhibition, its national tour and related programs in Kansas City and in 11 other cities across the country, are possible thanks to Ford Fund contributions.Ford Motor Company Fund has contributed more than $1.3 billion to thousands of non-profit organizations in the United States, with a special focus on education safe driving and community life.The American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music traveling exhibition debuted together with the Smithsonian exhibition at the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City on Aug. 1, where they will remain until Oct. 27.American Sabor illustrates the different contributions of Latino musicians, and highlights their innovations in different categories of music such as jazz, R & B, rock ‘n’ roll and hip-hop. The traveling exhibit is complemented with an interactive website to allow visitors to share their own experiences. “Ford Fund is pleased to bring this popular exhibit to Kansas City’s American Jazz Museum” said Joedis Avila, Ford Fund’s community outreach manager. “Ford Fund has a long-standing commitment to support and spotlight Latino achievement across the nation through various programs”.
