While its fans around the world celebrate the Ford Mustangs 50th anniversary, the city of Detroit will again be the home of Mustang Alley during the Woodward Dream Cruise.The Woodward Dream Cruise is the worlds biggest event of classic cars lasting but a single day. Some 40,000 vintage and classic cars from all around the United States are expected to turn up for the occasion.To heighten the excitement surrounding the event, Ford has launched the Mustang Countdown, a series of online videos announcing the celebration of the legendary sports car and the culture that has grown up around it worldwide.The Ford Mustang is a step away from becoming the newest member of a very exclusive club cars that have been in continuous production for the past 50 years. In its first 49 years of production, the Mustang won a worldwide fan base including more than 5 million on Facebook, the biggest of any vehicle brand.The cars unique combination of style, performance and affordability established a new class of sports car, and the Mustang has led the segment ever since. Over the past 49 years, of the more than 9.2 million Mustangs manufactured and sold, the majority come from the Ford base in Dearborn, Michigan. The Mustang has become a permanent feature of pop culture.
