Mila Ferrer de Familias con diabetes y Fernando Rodríguez de Ford durante Hispanicize 2014
Among Ford Motor Companys programs of social responsibility is its support for the Familias con Diabetes foundation, founded by Mila and Jimmy Ferrer, as part of the programs directed by the brand to more closely engage the U.S. Hispanic community. At Ford weve always had in mind being able to help families in general, especially Hispanic families, not only to make available the quality of our products, but also to be able to help those in need of a better quality of life, said Fernando Rodriguez, a member of the Hispanic Communications team at Ford.Familias con Diabetes is a foundation created by the Ferrer family to provide education, information and training for Latino homes that have to live with diabetes in the United States. We want to set an example for other families so they know its possible to live with diabetes and that these days its not a death sentence, but a chance to learn to educate yourself, eat better, exercise and prevent future complications, and we target the Hispanic community because we have a very high incidence of diabetes, Mila Ferrer said.As part of the joint projects programmed for next Nov. 14 in honor of World Diabetes Day, Ford will illuminate for the second straight year the Freedom Tower in Miami with blue lights, the color for raising awareness of diabetes. For more information, visit {Familias con diabetes; http://familiascondiabetes.org}.
