For the first time there is a statement that summarizes the influence of Latino music in North America, and it is called American Sabor: Latinos in popular music in the USA. As indicated by its {web page; https://americansabor.org/es}, the popular music of the United States is seasoned with sounds brought many parts of Latin America. While some Latinos crossed the border, others remember that “the border crossed them.” American Sabor presents the musical contributions of these and other Latinos in the United States from 1940 to the present, as Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan, Carlos Santana, Hector Lavoe, Selena, Ruben Blades, etc. The traveling exhibition is supported by Ford Motor Company Fund; and Alvaro Cabal, Multicultural Communications manager, spoke with PRODU about this exhibition that will be in the Miami History Museum until October 26th. “The support of Ford was at the level of sponsorship, working and supporting the exhibition. The philanthropic arm of Ford is dedicated to talk about the good things that Hispanics do in the USA” Cabal said, adding that the Hispanic museum has from dresses to musical instruments and it is a reunion of the history of many Latino artists.Cabal explained that music has no boundaries but has specific audiences, like Ford. And even this initiative explores traditional American music genres like jazz, R & B, rock ‘n’ roll, country and western music. Also, it follows new styles such as salsa, reggaeton, hip hop, etc.
