Proyecto Alimento: Leche para América se lanzará a principios del mes de abril
Feeding America, an organization aimed at relieving hunger among the poor, announced the launch of The Great American Milk Drive, the first program in the country urging consumers to donate milk rich in nutrients to families going hungry and who need it so much.According to Feeding America, milk is one of the items most wanted by people who receive aid from food banks, but even so its very scarce there because people rarely donate it.Now, sending a text message with the word Milk to 80077 or visiting the website of The Great American Milk Drive, it will be possible to buy milk and donate it for just $5.00.Hunger affects one out of every six Americans, including 12.5 million families that have no access to the nutrition needed to help them reach their true potential. In the Miami area alone, there are approximately 442,000 people who cant be sure of getting enough to eat.The Meal Gap map, showing the areas affected by food insecurity, is an eye-opener about how hunger impacts each county in the nation. With a network of more than 200 food banks and 61,000 popular dining rooms, community kitchens and emergency shelters, Opening Doors and Feeding America help make up for that gap by providing meals for the neediest families. The drive launched on April 2 in Miami.
