In recent years Facebook has positioned itself as the most popular of all social networks, which in turn makes it an ideal media outlet for spreading the word about products.A survey by trade publication Advertising Age found that the social network has become a fully fledged marketing channel. Some 80 percent of those polled said that thanks to Facebook, advertisers have a new, cost-efficient way to get their messages out to consumers.When a social network becomes an advertising medium, it acquires in turn more importance for advertisers because of the proof they have of its widespread dissemination and ROI.Creating and running a page for followers plus buying ad spaces is advertisers preferred strategy for maintaining brand presence on this marketing medium. Some 74% of those polled said their Facebook budgets now include ad spend on Facebook ads, while a good 64 percent of advertisers said they purchased their spaces on Facebook directly from the social network without going through intermediaries or agencies.The social network has joined the list of mobile advertising strategies for delivering messages effectively 33 percent of those polled in the study said that more attention is paid to ads posted on smartphones, 38 percent said that mobile advertising has an influence equal to ads on a desktop computer, while 27 percent think that desktop ads are better.
