Fabio Seidl, group creative director at VML, is one of the members of the Grand Jury at the New York Festivals (NYF). “The best thing about the Creative Marketing Effectiveness category is that we’ll be looking for the best of both worlds: great ideas that made a great difference for brands and society. Advertising just can’t get any better than that” he said. The award, which honors excellence in international advertising, includes 10 U.S. Hispanics on its jury, excluding Brazilian creatives. “People who look and think the same will only and always come up with the same ideas. Being diverse is the only way to go. There was a time when addressing a particular cultural group meant creating something for a niche. Right now it means being aware, conscious, respectful, painting with a seductively colorful palette and studying a wider range of references. In other words, being inspired by diversity is being creative at its fullest” Seidl said. For Seidl, creativity in this digital age means hustle. “All the speed and all the information the digital age heaps on us leave no room for not creating something totally new and surprising every day in every way. Curiosity and learning how to apply new skills and technology were never so urgent, so essential or so valuable as they are today.”
