Dove Real Beauty Productions and the Creative Director, Shonda Rhimes launched a new video titled Meet Kylee that will challenge the rules of femenine beauty, and, as the star of the spot proposes, the greatest beauty you can reach is being as authentic as possible. “Each time you look at your screen and see a woman portrayed just as she is, sharing her humanity, bravely being herself, you are seeing someone beautiful” highlighted Rhimes.A 100% female production team joined Rhimes to create the new three-minute color video that follows Kylee in her path until she discovers her own beauty, knocking down conventions and cutting her hair with bold style, that she now shares at her salon Friar Tuck’s Barbershop. There, men and women can explore their own beauty concepts.Since its creation in March 2017, Dove Real Beauty Productions has set out to transfer the power of telling Hollywood stories to the hands of real women, to make sure that all women and children can see #RealBeauty represented in media and culture. According to reports made by Dove, 74% of women think that it is necessary to redefine beauty and get it to be more inclusive, for three out of every four gay and lesbian women, society suggests that they don’t care about beauty. “69% of women reported not feeling reflected in the media and advertising. As a global beauty brand, we feel the responsibility to address this complaint” added Nick Soukas, Marketing VP at Dove.
