PRODU interviewed Ciro Sarmiento about his joining Dieste as executive creative director. “I’ve been working here in Dallas since July 1 as executive creative director for all of Dieste’s accounts, and I’m super excited about this challenge because it’s such a big one. I have great expectations and I’m eager to tackle everything that comes my way” Sarmiento said.About Sarmiento’s arrival, Dieste CEO Greg Knipp said that “Ciro is someone I’ve respected for a long time, a very talented guy. We’re really enthusiastic about having him on board, and about him and Paco (Olavarrieta) forming the incredible creative team we’ve been aiming for”.Sarmiento comes from Lapiz where he served as creative director for a year and a half, and in the four years before that was a member of the LatinWorks team where he launched his career in the Hispanic market. “I worked in LatinWorks starting in 2008. I met a lot of people there, including Greg Knipp, with whom I’ve always kept in contact. Then I went to Lapiz – it was for a short but very rewarding time” he said.Of his time in Lapiz, Sarmiento said that “in all honesty, it was very satisfying. I ended my time there with incredible news from the Cannes Festival. I left with the feeling of a job well done, and they’ll be gathering the fruits of my work until at least a year from now. I left many friends there, not to mention all those people”.“Everything in life goes in stages, and this was a step I wanted to take for some time, to be able to lead a bigger team and have a greater say in an agency, and I believe this is my chance and I’m super happy” he said.
