The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity announced major changes to the Cyber Lions category in time for the 2014 awards ceremony and in line with current digital trenes.Three new subcategories Social, Branded Technology and Branded Games have been introduced to update the Cyber Lions category and better reflect where the industry is going today. The Social subcategory will honor executions with a focus on social thinking at the core of the work. The jury will weigh the level of engagement, social reach and the creative use of social networks to achieve a successful commercial outcome.Branded Technology will reward executions that use technology to highlight the brand and its benefits, while Branded Games will distinguish creative executions that have been specifically produced for a client with the goal of heightening the overall brand experience. The Cyber Lions have seen many changes since their launch back in 1998. More recently, with the ever-changing digital landscape and the introduction of the Mobile Lions category in 2012, it has become increasingly important to revise the structure and purpose of the category said Philip Thomas, CEO of Lions Festivals. We thank the many industry leaders who have helped shape the new-look Cyber Lions, and adapt them to the ever-changing world of creative communications he said.Other changes that have been made across the Cyber Lions category include the revamping of Cyber Craft.
