Cannes Chimera Initiative and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have united to offer people in the advertising and communications industry the chance to come up with creative ideas that will make a world-changing difference in the fight against poverty. Sept. 30 was the final date for submitting proposals, and when the winners are announced, they will then be able to work with the group of 2013 Cannes Lions Grand Prix winners to improve the idea. Over the past 20 years the number of people living on less than US$1.25 a day has dropped to 1.1 billion. However, Tom Scott of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation says the goal is to eradicate poverty for good by the year 2030.The Cannes Chimera is looking for communications strategies to help achieve that objective.
