The CLIO Sports Awards, which honors the best creativity in sports marketing, announced its winners on Friday, July 8th, in a gala ceremony in New York. #MoreThanMean and Invisible players are among the pieces that received the Grand Prize. They both reflect social problems and leave a message against discrimination in sports and the media.The host of the event was Boomer Esiason, NFL analyst and radio host. The Stuart Scott Lifetime Achievement Award was given to John Miller, NBC Olympics CMO.”This was a great year for storytelling and creativity” said Nicole Prucell, President of CLIO. “Our Grand winners showcase the power of advertising, from important conversation starters to immersive experiences that are connecting fans with the brands they love in new and innovative ways. We were thrilled to have so many influential creatives and marketers celebrate with us this year.”The video viral by One Tree Forest Films, #MoreThanMean, that talks about online harassment that women in sports face was among the winning pieces. The spot features sports writers Julie DiCaro and Sarah Spain. Africa’s campaign for ESPN Brazils web portal, asking fans to identify the athlete, also received a Grand Prize.
