The Imagen Foundation has announced the nominees for the 28th Imagen Awards, an event that honors portrayals of Latinos and Latino cultures on television and film. Patis Mexican Table, a TV series produced by The Cortez Brothers production company, has been nominated for Best National Information Program. The Imagen Awards will be presented next Aug. 16 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel International Ballroom, and the gala event will air as an hour-long special on PBS SoCal (TBA). The winners will be chosen by an independent panel of entertainment industry execs and leaders of the Latino community. Now in its second season, Patis Mexican Table with chef Patricia Jinich as host brings Mexican flavors to more than 100 million homes in the United States, as she also shares family stories and takes fascinating trips to Mexico.Bernadette Rivero, president of The Cortez Brothers, told PRODU her impression after hearing of the nomination. I feel lucky we got this far, because it was a project of the whole team at The Cortez Brothers. Everyone was involved in this show. Being nominated in this category puts us on a level with Oprah Winfrey, with whom were competing. Having our name next to hers makes me feel very fortuna. Its a unique show because not only is the wonderful, talented, brilliant host Pati Jinich Latina, but because many of the people who wrote and produced it behind the scenes are Latino as well, which we know is exceptionally rare. We were lucky to draw on a multicultural crew, a shared passion for stories, and an intense love of authentic Mexican cuisine Rivero said.Visit {Patis Mexican Table;http://tinyurl.com/PMTFullEpisode} to see the complete episode.
