Asori Soto Cortez Brothers
Asori Soto of the Cortez Brothers production company received a Gold Addy Award this week for his first project as an advertising producer/director, an honor he won for a campaign he made in 2018 with the ad agency Riester for Herdez, the Mexican food brand, entitled Herdez Centuries – Street Tacos. “Winning a Gold Addy for Herdez Centuries – Street Tacos, my first project directing commercials, comes as a big surprise. My first feeling is one of gratitude to all who made it possible for Herdez Centuries to happen, from the friends at Riester who invited us to take part in this beautiful collaboration, to Cortez Brothers for being the family that always believes in you, and to our wonderful crew in Mexico for their constant support,” he said. “It´s funny, but when you’re in the middle of a shoot you don´t think about awards – you just think about shooting the best story possible. So it’s really nice to receive an honor like this one.” This same week, Asori launches his documentary Cuban Food Stories on iTunes and Amazon Prime. “Precisely one year after its debut at the Berlinale and having toured the festival circuit, the film is available on many platforms worldwide (iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, Vimeo On Demand —where we are on the New and Noteworthy list). Somehow, it’s a great acknowledgement for the people who gave their all to make it possible. Both the Gold Addy and reaching the end of the cycle with my first documentary feature film fill me with the energy to keep creating stories non-stop,” he added.
