Ariel Dress Pavel Cantu Mauricio Osorio
This year BlackVan Films announces they will aim aggressively towards digital and non-conventional formats. For example, says Ariel Dress, Co-Founder of the production company, the documentary that Pavel Cantu Co-Directs together with Pablo Fusco on one of the last big projectionists in Hollywood or the film that Pavel is directing in Mexico. “We are also giving our director room to research and generate interesting contents, as was the case in one of our shootings in Panama, where the director Gonzo Llorente stayed researching and shooting on the local carnivals. We are betting that this year our objectives continue to be consolidated” commented Dress. He adds that although they went through challenges in the Hispanic market in 2018, they learned to constantly reinvent themselves in the industry. “We noticed a big challenge in the industry, where our market has had to carry part of the weight in the reduction of projects and scattering of resources towards alternative media.” Another aspect in terms of growth, maintains Dress, is having incorporated Mauricio Osorio as a partner, as well as three prestigious directors to the roster. “It is important to see that our directors are working on big projects, whether it is with us or in other markets, such as Pablo Fusco for Dos Equis, Luciano Podcaminsky for KFC, Gringo for Longchamp or Daniel Rosenfeld with his film “Piazzolla, Los Años del Tiburón”, that is travelling the world very successfully”. The goals they fulfilled last year include being able to continue and add clients and agencies. “It was also very important to support the opera prima “Mírame”, by our partner and director Pavel Cantu, that recently finished shooting in Mexico”.
