The American Advertising Awards were held Wednesday June 15 in Washington D.C. The most important agencies, brands and advertisers in the American advertising industry were acknowledged. Leo Burnett Chicago received the Best in Show award. Jason Manns and Ellen Wareham, students of the College for Creative Studies, took the highest accolade in the Student Best of Show. In this edition, the competition had a record number of submissions, with more than 40 thousand pieces. Leo Burnett Chicago won Best of Show, 3 Gold and 2 Silver for their pieces for Allstate Insurance Company, Eggo, Esurance and McDonald’s. The winners in the student category were acknowledged for Holocaust, a bus transformed into an old train, similar to the one that took prisoners to Auschwitz, with the slogan: Imagine not knowing your final stop. “Tonight we celebrate innovation, insights, creativity and technical expertise that is uniquely American” expressed James Edmund Datri, President and CEO of the American Advertising Federation, during the event. “These awards acknowledge the achievement of that perfect combination of superlative creative, spectacular technique and stellar execution. We proudly showcase the best of the best and celebrate a new class of leaders in the advertising industry who inspire us all.”The Hispanic agencies ALMA, Lopez Negrete Communications, The Community, Dieste, Bravo/Y&R Miami, and Zubi Advertising stood out for their participation in the event. These awards are organized by the American Advertising Federation.
