Alex Lopez Negrete: Successful clients consider agencies as partners, not suppliers

Continuing with our Special Coverage of ANA 2012, Alex Lopez Negrete, president and director general of Lopez Negrete Communications in Houston, talked with PRODU about the importance of agencies being present at important events like the Association of National Advertisers’ 14th Annual ANA Multicultural Marketing & Diversity Conference.Lopez Negrete said that from what he has discerned, there will be more talk about multicultural and Hispanic topics at the conference. “It will be interesting to see the reaction of non-multicultural agencies,” he said.The executive noted that agencies and clients being together at big conferences like this is always something of a “struggle.” “I think clients that are really successful in the market consider agencies as their partners and not just suppliers,” he said.The final point Lopez Negrete made was the importance of Stephen Quinn, CMO of Walmart, being a member of the ANA Board of Directors, since it was he who took the decision that Walmart would develop multicultural marketing. At the same time he has made the company even more successful.“They’re taking very good decisions and the price of Walmart shares has never been higher than it is now. The formula Quinn has developed has worked out pretty well,” he said.
