While Amazon and Hulu are trying to compete with Netflix, figures seem to reveal that Netflix will continue leading the streaming services. A study by Nielsen revealed that more than 36% of homes in the US are subscribed to Netflix. Amazon Prime has 13% and Hulu has 6.5% of subscribers.A new analysis by iModerate on the three providers of the service, interviewed 2,500 users to know their perception on the platforms. The study revealed that the preference for Netflix is such that 20% of consumers think that the service will replace other entertainment options. Besides, they commented that they cannot distinguish between Amazon Prime´s instant video and Amazon´s sales platform and that they reject advertising that interrupts content in Hulu. The main reasons why people prefer Netflix are: variety of the programs they offer and their original series. Many think this platform is modifying the industry and is managing TV networks to adapt to the accessibility model anywhere and with low costs. While Netflix is the strongest competitor to replace or complement traditional television, Hulu and Amazon could threaten Netflix offering more programming and building friendlier interfaces”, said Adam Rossow, partner at iModerator. “There is no doubt that cable companies must also be preparing their strategy. It is still not possible to define the winner of this battle.”
