80 percent of adult Hispanic millennials are proud of their work

Patricia Molina| 19 de marzo de 2014

As part of its new 2014 study, Tr3s asked Hispanics between ages 19-34 about their current employment and how it compares with what would be their ideal choice of a career. The results show that many are unhappy working in fields like retail, sales, food and construction. Almost 30 percent of adult Hispanic millennials work in those industries, and only 7 percent say they are anything like ideal.Technology including IT is the most common field, employing one out of 10 millennials. The same proportion (10 percent) considers this kind of work an excellent opportunity. But the fields that adult Hispanic millennials regard as really worth going for are healthcare, the arts, media/entertainment, teaching/mentoring and fashion/beauty.More than half of adult Hispanic millennials either sit at a desk or are on their feet all day, but neither sees the other as any better (17 percent divide their workday between being active and stationary, a state of affairs that 39 percent see as ideal.)Adult Hispanic millennials are more likely to say they’re just working to pay their bills, but few regard that as ideal. They’d rather have work that’s fun or that helps people, conditions that would motivate them to be more committed and socially responsible. But whatever the conditions, most are proud of their work and their companies.
