Zee Entertainment was at NATPE presenting three series already available in Spanish: the family dramas Begusaray and Jamai Raja, and the period drama Jodha Akbar.
Rajeev Kheror, president of Strategy and International Business at Zee Entertainment, pointed out that Latin America is a critical market for the whole world since telenovelas come from this region and it now consumes content from around the world. “It has a huge appetite for consuming stories. That, and the fact that people spend a lot of time watching television, make it a very important market” assured the executive.
This is one of the reasons to present a varied offer with series, family and historical dramas, among others. Additionally, they have an important Bollywood film library that sells very well, especially those starring the actress Sharon Khan. This year they will also launch new films in the channel, that will be available to the Hispanic audience for the first time.
Goals for this 2018 are to launch an application with Bollywood films, that will be the first for the Hispanic audience, and to increase distribution in Latin American markets such as Argentina, Chile, Peru, Guatemala. “We are also launching on small platforms in Latin America,” said Kheror.
