WDFL Channel 18 Miami to become Mira TV

In the coming days, WDFL Channel 18 Miami will become Mira TV. The channel will continue featuring the CNN Latino programming block until March 6, at which point it would be replaced by the productions of Mira TV.“We’re optimistic. The new project will be branded Mira TV. In my opinion, we have the best local sales team. We now have the opportunity to choose what we put on air, and in a year or two, we’ll become the most important local station in South Florida,” told PRODU Thomas Johansen, president of WDFL.As part of the new programming, we have Alexis Valdéz, who signed with us last week as our primetime anchor with his show, Monday through Friday at 9pm.Additionally, the station retains the talent of María Elvira Salazar, Tomás García Fuste and Rodríguez-Tejera. Also, Dr. Misael González returns at 3pm with his health show.Johansen announced he hired Miguel Ferro as director of Production and Programming. He said he would be making a few more programming announcements in the coming days. Also journalist, radio talk show host, correspondent, author and television news anchor Rick Sánchez was hired to launch a show for the 10pm time slot. This will be the first time that Sánchez works for a Hispanic TV network.He indicated the company is looking for two additional account executives to join the sales team led by Marilyn Navaro, Regional Sales Manager, and Carlos Justo, Local Sales Manager. “We have the best sales team, with great relationships in this market,” added Johansen.
