Gustavo Grossman, leader of General Entertainment channels at WarnerMedia Latin America, told PRODU that linear channels continue to be the company’s main source of income and also play a key role in WarnerMedia’s multiplatform strategy in promoting its B2C service: HBO Max.
“That’s why we must keep them current, relevant, attractive and innovative,” explained Grossman.
He mentioned that each channel has been positioned: TNT is the leader and this Sunday the 13th began the awards season, in addition to having a curatorship of films from major studios. TNT also maintains its position as the series’ channel and will continue to broadcast justice and crime series, and Turkish dramas; Space continues to be devoted to horror and boxing matches; Warner Channel will be incorporating much more anime material this year, and Cinemax will be premiering major movies throughout the year.
“With this strategy, we continue to provide options for the operators, our natural partners, and it is a partnership that must be strengthened and we are focused on continuing to deliver programming that entertains,” he stressed.
Regarding the support of HBO Max, he pointed out that two of the linear channels have a programming block called The HBO Max hour where the first chapter of some released series are broadcast to promote the shows and attract subscriptions.
Regarding original production, he announced that they are preparing a lot of branded content, such as a new season of Un Pequeño Gran Viajeand of Parrilleros, which also has versions in various markets. In these programs they have many integrated clients “because at the end of the day part of the linear business is advertising,” he said.
