VIP 2000 TV holds the worldwide distribution rights for Plantadas, a powerful film inspired by real-life events, recalling the struggle of political prisoners in Cuba under the communist regime and how their human rights were violated.
“This film has great relevance for us at VIP 2000 TV, based on real-life events that sadly continue to occur in Latin America. Giving visibility to these stories of brave women who fought for freedom is important to us. We are very confident that this film will do very well in distribution. We are now looking for our first window,” said Roxana Rotundo, CEO of VIP 2000 TV.
The world premiere of Plantadas, produced by Vilaplana Films and directed by Camilo and Lilo Vilaplana, was Sunday, March 5th as part of the 40th edition of the Miami Film Festival that takes place from March 3 to March 12 at the Silverspot Cinemas downtown.
Plantadas is the story of Alina, Luisa, and América, who after fighting to restore and stabilize democracy on their island, realize that the leader of their revolution has betrayed them. The three women begin to challenge the system in their own way and end up imprisoned. Their lives are intertwined in the tragedy they go through in jail where human rights are violated despite their gender.
